Custody Evaluations
Indiana Child Custody Lawyers: Serving Clients Statewide
Child custody evaluations play a pivotal role in the overall outcome of many Indiana divorces. Our firm has built a strong reputation for insight into all aspects and implications of these evaluations. Our investigations and research in this area have led to articles and seminars attended by our fellow attorneys.
We fully recognize that this is a foreign and intimidating process for many people. If you anticipate a custody dispute in your divorce, or simply want to ensure that your rights to parenting time are protected, we encourage you to contact us at Pennamped and Associates.
We are Not Intimidated by Psychological Findings
Psychologists who perform custody evaluations use a wide range of methods to arrive at their opinions on what custody and parenting time arrangements serve the best interests of children. Ultimately, whether the evaluator is court-appointed or agreed upon by both parents, the result is an informed opinion impacted by many factors.
Like any other point of evidence submitted in a legal dispute, opinions of custody evaluators are subject to challenge. When you are represented by Pennamped and Associates, you do not have to simply accept the results of a child custody evaluation. We can help you understand the report and, if appropriate, contest the findings on solid grounds.
In-Depth Knowledge of Custody Evaluation Techniques
There is no substitute for experience in this area. We understand the standards applied by both the American & Indiana Psychological Associations, but we are equipped to dig much deeper, raising issues with:
- Which specific psychological tests were employed?
- How were the tests administered, and what were they designed to elicit (or not elicit)?
- Were alienation factors considered – as when someone with access to the child actively creates bad feelings toward a parent?
Our attorneys are diligent when child custody hangs in the balance. A custody evaluation can work in your favor, but it need not be the final word in your case. For experienced counsel and representation in any custody matter, we encourage you to contact us as soon as possible in the process.
